Gardai Appeal For Information Into Death Of Man In Cork

Gardai are appealing for information into the death of a man in Co. Cork.

The body of Peter Murphy, 37 years old, was discovered at his home at Shanavoher, Bweeng, Co. Cork on 7 February 2015.

A post mortem examination carried out at Cork University Hospital established that Mr Murphy's injuries were inflicted as the result of an assault.

Mr Murphy was last seen alive at his home on 5 February at approximately 2:30pm.

Superintendent Patrick McCarthy said: "Gardaí in Mallow are still actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Peter Murphy.

"Numerous enquiries have been undertaken and witnesses interviewed since the investigation commenced and I would like to thank the public in the Mallow/Bweeng area for their assistance to date.

"I would urge anyone with any information in relation to Peter's death to contact the incident room at Mallow Garda Station or Crimestoppers."

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to witnesses or anyone with information, particularly those who travelled the Ballysimon Cross to Shanavoher Road between 2pm 5 February and 1.30pm 7 February 2015, to contact them at Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450, Crimestoppers 1800 250025, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
