LRC And NBRU To Attend Talks Over Ongoing Dispute

The Labour Relations Commission (LRC) has invited senior management from Bus Éireann and Dublin Bus to attend talks at 3pm today, 11 May.

It aims to resolve the ongoing dispute over the tendering of 10% of bus routes to private operators.

General Secretary of the National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU), Dermot O'Leary, confirmed they would be attending.

He said: "We will as a matter of course be attending, however it is important that there is a clear understanding of our position.

"It requires an all party commitment to address all of the issues on the pre-agreed interlocked agenda, inclusive of no staff transferring, no legacy cost consequences for staff, extraction of labour costs from tendering, a regulatory regime with teeth that will ensure that a breach of contract on agreed employment terms and conditions will be met with penalties, inclusive of the ultimate sanction of contract termination.

"For some time now it has been quite clear to us that the savings to the taxpayer argument being promulgated by the NTA is almost exclusively based on Labour costs."
