Four Arrested Over Dissident Republican Activity

Four men have been arrested over dissident republican activity.

Members of An Garda Siochana from the Special Detective Unit carried out 20 searches in Counties Louth, Dublin and Wexford on Wednesday.

All of the men are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against Act at various Garda Stations in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

Army bomb disposal experts dealt with a suspect device in Courtown, Co. Wexford.

Gardaí have also recovered component parts for explosives devices at some of the other locations searched. Investigations are ongoing.

Garda Searches Underway In Waterford And Wexford
Gardaí and a number of associate organisations are carrying out a number of searches in Waterford and Wexford. More than 80 garda officers are being assisted by the Criminal Assets Bureau, Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit, Garda Air Support and Officers from Revenue Custom and Excise.

Two Arrested Following Supermarket Raid
Two men have been arrested following a raid at a supermarket in the Clarehall area in Dublin last night. At around 10.30pm, two men armed with a knife entered the premises on the Malahide Road and threatened two members of staff, before tying them up and attacking them. The pair then left the scene with a sum of cash.

Four Arrested Following Garda Searches
Four men have been arrested following searches by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau. The operation was carried out in connection with a murder in Dublin on 10 March 2018. This morning, 05 December, arrests were made in Dublin and Louth.

Dedicated Garda Unit Needed To Tackle Gun Crime
A dedicated garda unit is needed to tackle a "dramatic" spike in gun crime, Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Justice Niall Collins has said. Deputy Collins made the call as gardaí investigate three separate gun attacks in West Dublin in as many days.

Three Arrested In Airport Drug Probe
Two South African women and a Portuguese male have been arrested after a drug haul worth half a million Euro was seized at Dublin Airport. The arrests came following a large scale operation by the Santry Drugs Unit and the Revenue's Customs Service.
