Three Arrested In Firearms And Drug Seizure

Three men have been arrested after a firearm and quantity of drugs were seized in west Dublin.

Members of the Ronanstown Drugs Unit stopped and searched a car at about 18:50 on Monday in Clondalkin.

During the search they recovered a shot gun and seized a quantity of cocaine. The occupants of the car, three males aged in their 20s, were arrested at the scene. They are currently detained at Ronanstown and Clondalkin Garda Stations under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939.

Garda said that the investigation is ongoing.

Man Arrested Over Cocaine And Ammunition Find
Gardaí in Co Louth have seized a quantity of cocaine and 9mm ammunition following the search of a car. Cocaine worth an estimated €50,000, and a small quantity of ammunition, was uncovered when garda searched the car at about 18:00 in Drogheda on Monday. Officers arrested a man in his 40s in connection with the find.

Gardaí Arrest 45 In Major Drugs Operation
A total of 45 people have been arrested in the past 48 hours in Gardaí a crackdown on the sale and supply of heroin and “crack” cocaine in the Dublin region. The operation, which involved Garda drug units from Kevin Street, Pearse Street and Store Street stations, resulted in 150 charges being brought, according to Gardaí this morning.

Two Arrested In Connection With Dublin Drug Supply
Two men have been arrested in Dublin as part of a gardaí investigation into the supply of drugs in the city. Gardaí said the men, from Eastern Europe, were arrested by the Ballymun Drugs Unit in an underground car park on Tuesday night. It is understood the drugs, worth an estimated €500,000, were seized during the operation.

Three Injured And Three Arrested In Longford Car Chase
Three people required hospital treatment following a high-speed car chase in Longford on Saturday night. Gardai said a patrol car was carrying out a routine circuit of the town when it tried to stop a car. However, the car sped off at speed and gardai gave chase. The chase ended when the suspects car crashed at Goshen cross outside Longford.

New Powers Allow For Roadside Drug Testing
The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross has announced the commencement of the drug driving provisions in the Road Traffic Act 2016. One of the key measures in the legislation provides for Preliminary Drug Testing, which will enable Gardaí to test motorists whom they suspect of driving under the influence of drugs at the roadside.
