Garda Appeal For Owners To Reclaim Recovered Stolen Goods

Gardaí in Portlaoise have issued an appeal for the owners of property recovered during search operations last month.

Garda have recovered property worth an estimated €150,000, which the hope to reunite with its owners.

The items recovered include:

• 74 outboard engines

• 10 boats

• 8 boat trailers

• 1 caravan

• 8 trailers

• 2 generators

Photos are available on Garda social media sites, and the public are asked to email portlaoise.property@garda.ieorring 057 8674100 to arrange viewing.

Detective Sergeant John Healy, speaking at Portlaoise Garda station said: "We are appealing to people all over the country who may have had an outboard engine stolen to look at the photos and see if their engine is amongst the property we have here.

Obviously, as we are in a central location, we feel that the engines could belong to people countrywide, so we’re asking everyone from Killybegs to Castletownbere to look at the photos.

We’ve set up a dedicated email for people to contact us and make an appointment to view if they believe that their property is here with us".

Portlaoise Gardaí also recovered items such as boat covers, winches and petrol cans that would be used in boatyards. These items are also viewable on the Garda Facebook page.

Garda Investigate Shooting At Co Cork Home
An investigation has been launched after a shot was fired at a house in Co Cork on Monday. It is understood that armed gardaí responded to reports of a shot being fired at a house in Crookstown. When they arrived an elderly man is understood to have come out and spoken with garda officers at about 19:00.

Man Arrested After Shots Fired At Property In Dublin
A man has been arrested after shots were fired at a property in Dublin on Friday morning. Three men are believed have targeted the house on Oranmore Road in Ballyfermot at approximately 10am. A firearm was also recovered from the scene of the attack. The man is being detained at Ballyfermot Garda Station.

Man Held In Connection With 'Tiger Robbery'
A male in his 20s has been arrested in Tallaght in connection with a so-called 'tiger kidnapping' incident in Dublin last month. Gardai investigating the false imprisonment and abduction of a bank official on the June 22 made the arrest this morning in relation to the incident.

Arrested Follows Limerick Bank Robbery
A man has been arrested following a bank robbery in Kilmallock, Co. Limerick on Monday morning. Three males wearing florescent jackets entered the Bank of Ireland branch on Lord Edward Street in Kilmallock at around 11.10am, threatening staff using an as yet unknown implement. Gardaí identified the weapon, but do not believe it to be a firearm.
