Vodafone Announce 200 New Jobs For Dublin

Two hundred new jobs are to be created in Dublin by telecoms operator Vodafone.

The company is set to open a new European sales centre in Carrickmines, investing €60m over the next five years.

Welcoming the news, Fine Gael TD for Dublin Rathdown, Olivia Mitchell, said: "Dublin Rathdown is a prime investment location, increasingly successful in attracting businesses offering high quality jobs. It is a location recognised for its access to excellent infrastructure, such as the Luas, the M50 and respected third level institutions and is an ideal choice for Vodafone’s new European sales centre which will result in this vast increase in its existing workforce at Leopardstown.

"These new jobs are a welcome boost to the Dublin Rathdown economy, as job creation always has a knock on effect for the local community with local businesses benefitting from the newly employed people.

"In 2012, Vodafone moved a large number of jobs from Dublin to Northern Ireland and today’s announcement is a major vote of confidence in the Government’s plan to restore jobs by making Ireland a more competitive place to do business."
