LÉ Niamh Rescues Over 250 Migrants In Libya
Irish navy vessel LÉ Niamh has rescued 256 migrants following a Search and Rescue Operation 90 kilometres north-east of Tripoli, Libya.
On 19 July, 98 migrants were rescued from a rubber craft 76 KM North West of Tripoli. The LÉ Niamh was involved in a joint operation with the Italian Navy to transfer 200 migrants from a wooden barge to the Italian Naval Vessel SIRIO.
The LÉ Niamh departed Ireland on Friday 10 July.

Irish naval vessel, L.É. Róisín, is to be deployed to the mediterranean to assist in the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region. The Minister for Defence, Mr. Simon Conveney, announced that L.É. Róisín will depart Haulbowline on Sunday 01 May to assist the Italian authorities in the search and rescue activities in the Mediterranean.

MRCI Call On Govt To Regularise Undocumented Migrants
The government is being urged to regularise undocumented migrants in Ireland, after the Taoiseach praised US President Barack Obama for a similar move. The Migrant Rights Centre Ireland (MRCI) made the call, estimating that there are between 20,000 and 26,000 undocumented migrants currently in Ireland.
