24-Year-Old Arrested In Dissident Operation

A 24-year-old man has been arrested as part of an ongoing operation into dissident republican activity in Dublin.

Gardaí attached to the Special Detective Unit arrested the man in Dublin on Wednesday morning. The man was detained at Irishtown Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 as amended.

He is due to appear before a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court, Criminal Courts of Justice, Dublin, this evening at 10pm where he will be charged.

Dublin Man Jailed For Hit and Run
A Dublin man has been jailed for seven years after killing a 20-year-old English student in a hit-and-run three years ago. Eric Doyle of Whitechurch Avenue, Ballyboden, in County Dublin, was already banned from driving for four years when he knocked down and killed Lilly Hastings-Bass on the Rathgar Road on the 26th of November 2006.

Man Arrested Following Drugs Find
Drugs with an estimated street value of €170,000 have been seized by gardai during a raid on a property in west Dublin. Cocaine and cannabis was found during the raid at a house in Balgaddy. A gun and ammunition were also discovered. A 37-year=old has been arrested and is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station.

Suspected Dissidents Due In Special Criminal Court
Three men are due to appear at a sitting of the Special Criminal Court in Dublin sometime in connection with dissident republican activities. The men are due to appear after 10.30am this morning.
