Fishing Port Ice Plants Shut Down By Health And Safety Board
Health and safety inspectors have ordered the closure of ice plants at three of the countries largest fishing ports.
Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) have informed trawler captains that ice plants at Howth, Kilmore Quay and Dunmore East have been closed, according to a report by RTÉ.
It is understood that Health and Safety regulation audits were recently carried out at the plants, which uncovered a "number of issues requiring immediate attention".
BIM have said that the plants have been closed immediately, but the closures should be temporary.
