BNM Group Rule Out Compulsory Redundancies

Unions at Bord na Móna (BNM) have announced that a general meeting of its members has been deferred following confirmation that compulsory redundancies will not take place.

BNM confirmed that it will no longer implement compulsory redundancies at a subsidiary company of the semi-state enterprise.

Bord na Móna Group of Unions Secretary and SIPTU Organiser, John Regan, said: "Following formal confirmation by the company that the threat of compulsory redundancies in ANUA has been lifted we are deferring a general meeting that had been scheduled to take place in the Mullingar Park Hotel, Mullingar, County Westmeath, tomorrow (Thursday, 20th August) evening."

Unite Official, Ed Thompson, said: "The implementation of compulsory redundancies at ANUA would have been an unprecedented move in the history of semi-state enterprises in Ireland. As such it would have been totally unacceptable to our members."

Bord na Móna Environmental Ltd trading as ANUA is a subsidiary company focused on the provision of water and air treatment systems.
