Two Japanese Nationals Reported Missing In Co Clare

Gardaí have appealed for help in tracing two Japanese Nationals who have not been seen since Saturday, 22 August.

Eiji Takagi, 63, of joint American & Japanese nationality and Ushio Azaki, 61, Japanese national, checked out of hotel accommodation in Spanish Point, Co Clare on Saturday morning.

A hired car they were using was found in a car park at Georges Head car park in Kilkee. It is believed the car was parked there shortly after 21:00 on the day.

Both persons were due to take a flight from Shannon Airport on Monday, via Heathrow Airport for an onward connection to Tokyo, Japan but failed to show up for this flight.

A search operation is ongoing in conjunction with An Garda Síochána and the Irish Coast Guard.

Investigating Garda are appealing for anyone with information in relation to the whereabouts of these people or to any person who may have seen their car – red Hyundai 151-D23003 – prior to it being found in Kilkee, to contact Kilrush Garda Station on 065 908 0550, the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and taken to Bandon Garda Station.

Man Critical After Arriving At Garda Station Suffering Gunshot Wounds
A man is in a critical condition after being shot a number of times in the neck and upper body in a west Dublin church car park on Wednesday evening. The man, aged in his 30s, managed to drive himself to Clondalkin Garda Station, despite having been seriously injured in the shooting at around 18:00 yesterday.

Man Killed Following Dublin Robbery
A man has been found killed in the car park of a shop in Dublin after an attempted robbery on Thursday night. Details of the killing are still emerging, but gardaí at Clontarf Garda Station have launched an investigation into the death of the man in his twenties on what is thought to be the escape route of the robber.

Man, 49, Injured In Sligo Assault
A man has been injured during an assault, after a dispute in County Sligo last night. Gardai in Sligo said they are investigating the "serious assault", which occurred at a walkway connecting Stevens Street car park and Rockwood Parade last night. The injured man was found lying near the walkway and the Garavogue River at about 9pm.
