Irish Nanny Accused Of Killing Baby Girl Has Charges Dropped

An Irish nanny accused of murdering a baby girl in the United States has had the charge dropped.

Aisling Brady McCarthy from County Cavan had been expected to stand trial accused of killing one-year-old Rehma Sabir in Massachusetts in 2013.

A decision by the medical examiner had been reversed and it is believed the baby died from undetermined injuries.

Ms Brady served two and a half years in jail and received bail in May.

She had been living in the US for 15 years illegally and she is now expected to be deported.

Man Loses Murder Conviction Appeal
A 27-year-old man has lost his appeal against a murder conviction at the Court of Criminal Appeal. John Brett of Leitrim Street, Cork and his co-accused Jason Quinlan deny killing Cork plasterer Brian McKee three-and-a-half years ago. The father of one died after being attacked by knives and broken bottles in Mahon in August 2007.

Man And Woman Arrested In Connection With Child's Death Last Year
Two people have been arrested in connection with the death of a 10-week-old baby girl in Co Longford in June last year. The child, named as Doriana Kluska, from Cloondara in Longford, died in Temple Street Hospital on 04 June 2017. A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested in Naas. At the same time a woman, aged in her 20s, was arrested in Dublin.

Man Accused Of Axe Attack On Uncle
A man accused of killing his uncle in a horrific axe attack has appeared in court. Henry McLaren, 34, of Edenmore Drive, Raheny, denies the murder of his uncle, Thomas Dempsey during February 2007. A consultant psychiatrist for Mr McLarnen told the court on Tuesday he believed the accused was suffering from mental illness during the murder.
