Eircom Confirms 'Major Issue' Affecting Phone Lines
Eircom has confirmed it is working on a major issue which has left customers unable to use their phone lines.
Consumers with ISDN lines have also been affected.
Standard fixed line numbers are unaffected.
Anyone wanting to report a fault is being asked to go online at support.eircom.net/logafault.

Final Day To Apply For Water Conservation Grant
The deadline to apply for the €100 Water Conservation Grant is tonight, 08 October. The Department of Social Protection is providing an additional phone lines for people to contact with enquiries regarding their applications for the grant. The helpline will remain open until midnight.

Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Michael Moynihan TD, has called on the Government to support Fianna Fáil's proposal for an independent international assessment of Eirgrid's proposals for the construction of overhead pylons as part of their Grid 25 project.

Stormy Weather Causes Record Damages To Phone Lines
Eircom has said that it is experiencing unprecedented damage to the phone network from the stormy weather. Gale force winds and heavy rain have knocked over telephone poles and damaged phone lines across the country. Eircom says it is currently dealing with a record 10,000 faults in its network and is still working to restore full phone services.

A warning has been issued for further heavy rain today and tomorrow by Met Éireann. Torrential rain over the weekend caused flooding in several parts across the country, affecting sporting events and the final day of the Dublin Horse Show.
