100 New Jobs For Cork

Up to 100 new jobs are to be created in Cork at the new European-based headquarters of cybersecurity firm, eSentire Inc.

Welcoming the announcement, Labour Minister for Trade Promotion, Seán Sherlock, said that eSentire were attracked to Cork "due to the solid pool of security talent available".

"eSentire is a very welcome addition to the cybersecurity cluster of companies in Cork. Clustering likeminded industry together marks Cork as a world leader in these areas of expertise. I’m delighted to celebrate this milestone with the company and I offer my full support as eSentire builds its international presence here," Minister Sherlock said.

"Last autumn the company announced plans to open a EU location and in May, eSentire announced they had chosen Cork to establish their EU headquarters with the support of the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland. This was achieved through the hard work of IDA staff, which spans a global network.

"Cybersecurity is a specific area which we have targeted as part of the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs, and in recent years we have seen an impressive performance in this sector. eSentire’s decision to establish a European HQ in Cork and creating 100 extra jobs is another important boost in this sector."

"eSentire was attracted to Cork due to the solid pool of security talent available. eSentire offers a great opportunity for talented software engineering graduates to join a rapidly expanding IT security business, focused on tackling the increasing threat of cybercrime globally."

Since announcing the Cork location, eSentire has hired 11 employees to work in its Cork branch with plans to reach 100 employees over the next five years.
