Major Delays Expected After Port Tunnel Fire

Ongoing traffic delays are expected in Dublin following a vehicle fire inside the northbound bore of the Port Tunnel.

According to reports the tunnel remains closed in both directions after a a fire on Friday morning.

It is understood a man is being treated in hospital following the incident, but there are no details on his condition.

A ban on HGV vehicles in Dublin city centre has been lifted due to the tunnel closure.

Dublin's Port Tunnel has been closed South Bound following a serious collision. It is understood that emergency services are currently at the scene of a collision. No further details of the collision have been released. But garda has said that the ban on five axle trucks in Dublin city centre has been lifted.

Blaze-Hit Dublin Port Tunnel Reopens
A fire in the Dublin Port Tunnel has forced the closure of the crucial tunnel in both directions early this morning. Although both lanes have since been reopened, traffic remains very heavy in the area and gardaí have appealed to motorists to use alternative routes.
