ESB Profits Rise By €10m
Irish energy firm ESB today has announced an operating profit of €337 million, an increase of €10 million on the same period in 2014.
ESB's Chief Executive, Pat O'Doherty, said: "These results reflect a solid performance in the first half of 2015, while markets continue to be challenging as wholesale electricity prices remain low.
"ESB continues to deliver value for its customers, its shareholders, and for the Irish economy, while maintaining its financial strength and credit rating."
Profit after tax was €201 million, an increase of €93 million on the same period in 2014.

More Than 2,500 ESB Customers Without Power
More than 2,500 ESB customers are without power following outages in the south east and south west. The company has said that some 1,700 customers in the Enniscorthy and Arklow areas have been affected, along with around 900 homes and businesses in the Killarney and Bandon regions.

Gardaí Seize Two Million Contraband Cigarettes
A successful operation to net a huge haul of illicit tobacco products in Dublin has just been revealed. The joint operation was between the Garda Siocahana and the Irish Customs Service at Dublin Port. It has resulted in the detection and seizure of what are believed to be two million contraband cigarettes.

British Men Remanded Over €500M Cocaine Seizure
The three British men charged in connection with a €500 million cocaine seizure off the coast of West Cork have been remanded in continuing custody after Thursday's court appearance. Philip Doo, 52, Christopher Wiggins, 42, and David Mufford, 44 were in Kinsale District Court this morning facing charges under the Drugs Trafficking Act.

Cigarettes Seized In Laois
Revenue Commissioners have seized between eight and nine million contraband cigarettes in Co. Laois. It is understood that the cigarettes, which were valued at €3 million, were found in a container, which was wrongly delivered to an address in Durrow. It is believed that the container came from Spain and passed through Dublin Port.

Four Due In Court Over Largest Cocaine Seizure
Four men are due to appear in court today charged with the largest ever cocaine seizure in Ireland. The men, who all have addresses in the UK, are due to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Tuesday, charged with possession of cocaine and possession of the drug for sale or supply.
