Man Charged With 1987 Kilkenny Murder

A 52-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Ann Nancy Smith on 11 September, 1987.

The body of Ann Nancy Smith, a 79-year-old widow who lived alone, was found at her home on Wolfe Tone Street, Kilkenny, almost 30 years ago.

Garda made the arrest on Thursday in Kilkenny city.

The suspect is due to appear before a special sitting of Kilkenny District Court today, 16 October.

Publican Served €2,500 Fine For Diluting Vodka
A Kilkenny court has fined a publican €2,500 for watering down his vodka. Charles Malzard, of Malzard's Public House in Stoneyford, Co Kilkenny, was convicted at Kilkenny District Court and ordered to pay costs and expenses of more than €1,000. The National Consumer Agency (NCA) were alerted to the problem by a member of the public last July.
