Garda Injured Following Assault During Call Out
A garda officer has been treated in hospital following an assault in Cabra in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
It is understood that the officer had responded to a report of a car being on fire at New Campbell's Bridge at about 05:30.
On arrival, the officer was attacked by a man in his 30s who assaulted him with what is believed to be a bottle. The Garda was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he received a number of stitches to his leg. He has since been discharged from hospital.
A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with this incident and is currently being detained at Finglas Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Investigations are continuing.

A garda has been injured while on duty in Cork on Monday night. The sergeant has been treated in hospital but has been discharged. He was bringing a patient, aged in his 20s, to the Mercy University Hospital just after 6pm. The garda is based at Gurranabraher Garda Station.
