Man Killed In Monasterboice Road Accident

A 36-year-old man has died in a serious road accident in Monasterboice this morning (Friday).

Garda reported that two cars collided at approximately 06:15 at Tully Esker, on the Drogheda to Monasterboice Road.

The male driver of one car was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger (one male, one female both in their 30s), who were in the other car, have been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision examination and diversions are in place.

Gardaí in Drogheda are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have been on the road between 5.45am and 6.30am this morning, 20 November to contact them on 041 9874200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Three people have been killed in two separate road accidents on Ireland's roads since yesterday. Gardai at Milford are investigating the first incident, which occurred at Leat Beg, Fanad in Donegal, at approximately 8pm yesterday evening.

Three Arrest Over Youtube Driving Video
Three men are being questioned by gardaí and two cars have been seized after a video posted on YouTube showed a group of young men from Nenagh, Co Tipperary, driving dangerously on a country road. The video, clearly displays the registration plates of the cars along with the faces of the young men involved, who are each identified by nickname.

Second Death Following Co. Leitrim Crash
A second man has died following a road collision in Co. Leitrim on Tuesday. The 18-year-old man was the driver of one of three cars involved in the collision on the N4 at Mountcampbell, Carrick-on-Shannon, which happened around 8:10am on Tuesday. He died at Sligo General Hospital on Wednesday morning.
