Garda Seize Firearms And Explosives During Monaghan Searches

A number of firearms and explosive components have been seized by Garda during searches in Monaghan.

The searches were carried out in the Scotstown area on Wednesday, 25 November.

Various firearms including AK47 assault rifles, mortars, detonators, detonating cord and other component parts of IED's were recovered.

A 43-year-old man was arrested as part of the operation.

It is understood the searches are still ongoing and investigations are continuing.

Firearms Recovered In Garda Searches
A number of firearms have been seized by gardaí during weekend searches. A number of searches were carried out at the Marrowbone Lane Flat Complex in Dublin 8, by gardaí investigating serious crime and drug activity. Three rifles, six loaded magazines, one revolver and 200-300 rounds of ammunition were all recovered in the planned operation.

Firearms Recovered During Vehicle Searches In Finglas
Firearms have been recovered during a garda operation in Finglas. Led by the K-Community Action Team, garda made the discovery during the search of two parked cars as part of an ongoing policing operations targeting criminality in the area. The weapons recovered include a single barrel sawn-off shotgun and a .22 pistol.

Dublin Man Charged As 60 Guns Found In Car
An Irishman has been charged with illegally importing firearms after 60 guns were discovered concealed in a car in the UK. The find is believed to be the largest seizure of lethal purpose weapons at a UK port, according to the National Crime Agency (NCA).

Gardaí have seized five firearms following a planned operation in Dublin. Officers attached to the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, along with the Garda Special Crime Task Force, carried out a search of a car in the Cabra area on Friday, 04 November.

Man Claims He Found Rifle 'In A Field'
A 23-year-old man has been jailed for two years after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm, which he claimed he found in a field. It is understood the man claimed he found the firearm, believed to be a rifle, "when he cycled over it in a field", before he took it home and put it inside a wall of his home.
