Gardaí Launches Investigation Following Tiger Kidnap In Dublin
A major investigation is underway following the armed kidnapping of a family in north Dublin.
The incident occurred this morning, 03 December.
At around 5am, a mother and daughter were taken by an armed gang from their home in the Gracefield road/Artane area.
They were put into a white/silver VA Caddy with the partial registration number 09-D.
Both women were tied and bound in the back of the van, which was driven around for a number of hours.
At the same time, the father was forced to go to his work at a cash in transit company.
He was then forced to hand over a substantial sum of money to the criminals, believed to be around €200,000, in the vicinity of Corballis Road Business Park, Dublin Airport
Garda later found both women and the van in the vicinity of Chestnut Grove estate in Dunboyne, Co Meath.
While the victims did not suffer any physical injury, Garda said they were traumatised by the events.
Investigations are underway, however no arrests have been made.
Gardai are appealing to the public for help and are asking for information relating to:
• Any suspicious activity between the Artane Roundabout, Gracefield Road and its environs between 8pm yesterday and 8am this morning.
• Any suspicious activity in respect of a silver/white 09-D Volkswagen Caddy at Gracefield Road, Artane, Chestnut Grove, Dunboyne or between those locations.
