Central Bank Staff Vote 'No Confidence' In Management
Staff at the Central Bank of Ireland have passed a motion of 'no confidence' concerning its management.
It is understood out of Unite's 600 members, over half voted 92% in favour of the ballot.
The vote was held due to revelations that the bank had handed out retention payments to a small section of staff.
The union has written to the bank's future Governor, Philip Lane, seeking legal advice on the bank's decision to implement retention bonus payments.
Unite Regional Officer Colm Quinlan said: "Unite members are committed to ensuring that the Central Bank, which is charged with oversight of the banking sector as a whole, conforms to the highest standards of transparency and probity."
Mr Quinlan added that a "culture of clandestine payments and misinformation" cannot become normal within the bank.
