€10m Announced For Institutes Of Technology
A total of €10 million in funding is to be made available to Ireland's 14 Institutes of Technology. The Infrastructure Maintenance Fund allows the Institutes to discharge costs already incurred on various small-scale building works, refurbishment of existing facilities, or upgrading equipment.
Funding will be allocated on the basis of the Institutes' enrolments, and will be provided via the Higher Education Authority.
Announcing the funding, Minister for Education and Skills, Jan O'Sullivan TD, said: "I am delighted to announce the allocation of this funding to the Institutes of Technology which has been allotted for the purpose of maintaining and developing facilities and equipment right across the Institute of Technology sector.
"From my contact with the Institutes, I am very much aware that this funding has proved invaluable to them in the past as they strive to maintain and improve their existing infrastructure. This funding is firm evidence of my Department's continued commitment to funding improvement and upgrading works in our country's educational institutions for the benefit of all students."
