Additional Funds Secured To Help Complete Mullingar Hospital Upgrade
An additional €300,000 has been added to the HSE's Service Plan for 2016 to help complete the €3.6 million upgrade of the Emergency Department at the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.
Welcoming the news, Longford/Westmeath Fine Gael TD, Gabrielle McFadden, said: "The upgrade of the A&E at Mullingar Hospital has been talked about since 2010, before this Government came into office.
"Having lobbied Health Minister Leo Varadkar very hard to help secure the investment to carry out these important works, I am delighted to see this significant project now in its final stages.
"Minister Varadkar has confirmed to me that the upgrade works will be completed in the first quarter of 2016 and we all look forward to a refurbished A&E which will mean a better layout for both patients and staff.
"As a local Government TD, I am very pleased to see this substantial investment in our local hospital infrastructure which will further enhance the delivery of services at Mullingar Hospital."
