€400,000 Funding Secured For Arts Organisations
More than €400,000 in funding has been secured for arts organisations, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys.
The funding is being allocated as part of the Department's Small Capital Grants Scheme and will be used to support arts groups and venues. More than 60 organisations will benefit, with maximum grants of €10,000.
"This small grants scheme is designed to directly support arts groups and venues, which are so important to our cultural life. More than 180 applications were received by my Department, which demonstrates the high level of demand for this worthwhile scheme," Minister Humphreys said.
"This round of funding will provide small capital grants of up to €10,000 each to over 60 organisations, for innovative and creative projects to improve their efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of arts and culture to their communities.
"While the amounts involved are relatively modest, the grants themselves can make a huge difference to the individual organisations. This small grants scheme is a very important way of providing direct support to local arts groups, which contribute so much to the vibrancy of communities nationwide.
"The economic recovery has allowed me to increase funding to the arts this year, and it is important that our arts and cultural sector continues to benefit as the recovery takes hold."
