Election 2016 To Take Place On 26 February
Taoiseach Enda Kenny has confirmed the election will take place on 26 February.
Writing on Twitter, he said: "I am seeking a dissolution of Dáil Éireann today with the election to be held on February 26th."
Mr Kenny and President Higgins signed the papers just after 10.30am on Wednesday.
Polling stations will open 23 days from today, 03 February.

General Election Announced For 08 February
Ireland's next General Election will take place on Saturday, 08 February, the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has announced. The Taoiseach will now go to to Áras an Uachtaráin today to seek a dissolution of the 32nd Dáil from President Michael D Higgins.

Ivor Callely, 54, was arrested at his office in Dublin on Friday morning by garda from the Bureau of Fraud Investigation and brought before Dublin District Court.

Bookings Up For Irish Family-Owned Hotels
New figures released today show that bookings in Irish family-owned hotels have increased in the first two months of this year. Irish Country Hotels, a collection of 26 family-owned hotels in Ireland, show a 21% increase in bookings for January and February compared to the same period in 2011.
