INMO ED Members Approve New Proposals To Ease Overcrowding
Emergency Department (ED) Members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) have approved new proposals to ease overcrowding.
A total of 71% of people voted in favour of the motion brought forward by the Workplace Relations Commission.
Health Minister Leo Varadkar welcomed the yes vote, assuring staff of his 'personal commitment' to see that the agreement is implemented in full.
"We are making progress in reducing ED overcrowding," he said. "The number of patients on trollies today is 20% lower than it was this day last year, in spite of the influenza outbreak.
"This shows that our plan is working but there is a long way to go yet. We will need sustained actions and improvements over the coming years and I am more determined than ever to see that through."
