175 New Jobs Announced For Galway

One hundred and seventy five new jobs are to be created by a pharmaceuticals company in Galway.

Chanelle is to invest €70 million in expanding its manufacturing capacity and in its Research and Development facilities.

The jobs are to be created over the next five years at the companies headquarters in Loughrea, Co Galway.

Welcoming the announcement, Taoiseach Enda Kenny said: "I am delighted to welcome this €70 million investment by the Chanelle Group which is a vote of confidence in Ireland as a world class manufacturing location and as a leading centre for research and development in both human and veterinary pharmaceuticals. It is most welcome that Chanelle is increasing its workforce to over 550 people in the West of Ireland."

Construction on the expansion of production facilities which will add 30,000 sq ft of manufacturing plant will commence in March. 45 jobs will be created during construction.

Up to 60 new jobs are expected to be created over the next 18 months. The US-based company, headquartered in Pleasanton, California, employs over 600 people on a worldwide basis.

The construction of a new distillery in Dublin is underway. The new Teeling Whiskey Company distillery will be built in The Liberties, and will see some 100 jobs created during construction.

75 Jobs Created In New 'Connect' Scheme
A new employment initiative, which offers financial rewards to individuals who bring new project to Ireland, will create 75 new jobs in Laois, Galway and Longford. Under the scheme, 50 jobs will be created by Magni Group, with a new manufacturing plant for automotive coating near Portarlington, Co Laois.

60 News Jobs To Be Created In Galway
60 new jobs are to be created in Galway by US company Ipswitch, who will establish Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) support and operations centre in the city. Ipswitch will establish research and development, sales and technical support teams to help serve local customers and grow market shares in the region.
