More Than 20,000 Cigarettes Seized In Co Tipperary
More than 20,000 cigarettes and a quantity of rolling tobacco have been seized by Revenue Officers in Co Tipperary.
The seizure was made when officers stopped and searched a car in Golden, Co Tipperary on the morning of Wednesday, 10 February.
A total of 22,800 cigarettes, branded 'Royal Classic', 'Jim', 'MG', 'NZ Gold', 'Che', 'Marlboro' and 'Monte Carlo' were seized along with 200 grams of tobacco, branded 'Amber Leaf' and 'Cherry Choice'.
The vehicle, in which a quantity of the contraband was discovered, was also seized.
The combined value of the seized tobacco product is approximately €10,700, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €9,100.
A man aged in his 50's has been questioned and a file is currently being prepared for the DPP.

Almost 5,000 cigarettes and 9.5kg of rolling tobacco have been seized by Revenue officers in the Moore Street area of Dublin. Officers carried out the search assisted by garda, in an intelligence led operation targeting the illegal sale and supply of cigarettes and tobacco in the city.
