100 New Jobs Created By Pharmaceutical Research Firm

Up to 100 new jobs are to be created in Dublin by Irish pharmaceutical research company, APC Ltd.

The jobs were announced by the company as they officially opened a new state-of-the-art research facility, which will also act as its headquarters, in Cherrywood, Dublin.

Speaking at the launch, the Taoiseach Enda Kenny said: "I am delighted to welcome the announcement by APC of 100 new jobs in Dublin. This new research centre is a vote of confidence in Ireland and enhances our reputation as a leading location for pharmaceutical research and development.

"It is also a shining example of how a thriving business can grow from a bright idea once the right conditions are created by the right Government policies. The Government wants to keep the recovery going so that companies like APC can continue to grow and create jobs."

€13.5m Funding Into Health Research
€13.5m is to go towards funding for new health research projects announced today by Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar. A total of 36 projects are being supported by the Health Research Board (HRB) over the next three to five years, including research into cancer, asthma, kidney injuries and antibiotics.

A shed manufacturing company is to create 100 new jobs in Tuam, Co Galway. Steeltech Sheds is to relocate its business from Headford Road in Galway to the former Coca-Cola factory in Tuam and will recruit new staff between now and 2017. The company currently employs 100 staff at bases in Cork, Dublin, Carlow and Athlone.
