Fall In Live Register Numbers In February
There has been a slight fall in the number of people on the Live Register in February, it has been revealed.
According to the latest information published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), seasonally adjusted figures reveal that the number of people on the Live Register fell by 2,700 last month to 321,000. This was a percentage fall of 0.8%.
In unadjusted terms, there were 319,723 people signing on the Live Register in February, represents an an annual decrease of 35,401 – a fall of 10.0%.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the number of men on the Live Register in February fell by 1,800, while the number of women fell by 800.
Year-on-year, to the end of February, the number of male claimants was reduced by 25,637 to 190,248, while female claimants fell by 9,764 to 129,475.
Elsewhere, the number of long-term claimants on the Live Register in February was 143,478. Over half of all claimants (55.1%) were short-term ones. In the year to February, the number of people aged 25 and over on the Live Register fell by 26,661. For those under 25, the figure was 8,740 lower.
The CSO also said that the number of under 25s on the Live Register has fallen every month since July 2010.
In February, 25,889 people were newly added to the Live Register and consisted of 10,764 Jobseeker's Benefit (JB) claims, 13,962 Jobseeker's Allowance (JA) claims and 1,163 'Other Registrants'.

New statistics have revealed a further fall in the Live Register figures. It now marks the 38th consecutive month of decreasing numbers of people signing on. Over the past 12 months, all eight regions in Ireland showed a fall in live register.
