An Taoiseach Extends 'Deepest Sympathies' To Family Of Adrian Ismay
An Taoiseach Enda Kenny has extended his "deepest sympathies" following the death of Adrian Ismay, a Northern Ireland Prison Officer who died on Tuesday.
Mr Ismay was seriously injured when a bomb attached to his van detonated as he drove to work in Belfast earlier this month.
Speaking from Washington, the Taoiseach said: "My thoughts and prayers are first and foremost with Adrian Ismay's family for their loss and for their trauma in the wake of the bomb attack which caused Adrian such terrible injury.
"I have said repeatedly that such attacks can have no place in a civilised, inclusive society and we must continue to work at all levels to copperfasten a future for Northern Ireland that is committed to the democratic process and the rule of law and is free from violence and intimidation."

Australian Mayor Pays Tribute To Murder Victim Jill Meagher
The Australian mayor has expressed his condolence to the family of Irish woman Jill Meagher who was murdered in Melbourne last September. Oscar Yildiz arrived in the Republic of Ireland today and is due to attend a commemoration ceremony later this week. Ms Meagher, originally from Drogehda, moved to Australia in 2009 with her husband.

Former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds has died aged 81. Reynolds, born in Rooskey, Co Roscommon, served as a minister in a number of governmental departments and was elected Taoiseach on two occasions. He has been honoured as playing an integral role in the Northern Ireland peace process. His death was announced by his eldest son, Philip Reynolds.
