Cocaine Seizure 'Significant Blow Against Organised Crime'

Cocaine worth an estimated €500,000 has been seized by officers from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau in Co Dublin.

The drugs were uncovered during a search of a premises at Coolquay, The Ward on Sunday, 27 March.

Approximately seven kilos of cocaine with a street value of €500,000 was seized during the operation.

Gardaí said the seizure is "a significant blow against criminals engaged in organised crime and will seriously disrupt the illegal sale & supply of cocaine in the Dublin region".

No arrests were made during the operation and garda said that their investigation is ongoing.

Cocaine worth an estimated €500,000 has been discovered during a stop and search of a vehicle in west Dublin. Officers from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau made the seizure when they stopped a vehicle in Ballyfermot on Thursday afternoon. A follow-up search was also carried out in Dublin 20, garda said.

Man Arrested Over €500,000 Cocaine Seizure
Cocaine worth an estimated street value of €500,000 has been seized and a man has been arrested during a house search in Dublin. The Garda Drugs Unit recovered the drugs after searching a house in Oldtown Avenue, Santry, as part of an ongoing operation. A man, aged in his 40s, was arrested at the scene and can be held for up to seven days.

Haulbowline Is Safe Says Report
The controversial site at Haulbowline has been declared safe by a government report today. The assessment published by the Minister for the Environment John Gormley today has said the risks posed by toxic waste at the former Irish Steel plant in Cork poses no identifiable threat to local residents.

Dept Of Environment Accused Of 'Cover-Up'
The Department of the Environment has been accused of a "cover-up" over highly hazardous waste buried at what is reportedly "the largest and most extensive pollution incident in the history of the State". Almost 500,000 tonnes of the hazardous chemical Hexavalent chromium was buried at Haulbowline Island in Cork harbour.

Lusk Landfill Site To Get Go-Ahead
Plans to develop a refuse landfill site at Lusk in Co Dublin are set to get the go-ahead after the Environmental Protection Agency announced a proposed decision to grant a license. Fingal County Council want to develop the site, which would take in around 500,000 tonnes of non-hazardous waste each year, in Nevitt.
