Steep Fall In Number Of Homes On The Market

A new report has found that the number of homes for sale in Ireland is at its lowest level since 2007.

According to property website Daft.ie, there were just 13,500 homes for sale this month across Connacht, Munster and Ulster. This compares to almost 21,000 properties two years ago.

Nationally, the total number of properties for sale is 24,000 – but this figure is the lowest recorded since February 2007.

In addition, last year, 10,000 properties were constructed. The report said most of these were one-off properties.

Elsewhere, the study found that house prices in Dublin have stabilised, rising 0.9% in the year to March; while in Dublin 2, 6, 16 and 18, as well as south Co Dublin, prices are now said to be falling.
