Illegal Cigarettes And Tobacco Seized In Dublin

Almost 5,000 cigarettes and 9.5kg of rolling tobacco have been seized by Revenue officers in the Moore Street area of Dublin.

Officers carried out the search assisted by garda, in an intelligence led operation targeting the illegal sale and supply of cigarettes and tobacco in the city.

The combined retail value of the cigarettes, branded "Excellence", "Mayfair", and "MG", along with tobacco branded "Flandria", is in excess of €7,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €5,600.

Investigations are ongoing.

Quantities of illegal alcohol and cigarettes have been seized by Revenue Officers in two operations over the weekend. Cigarettes, branded 'Kent', 'Kent Slims', 'NZ', and 'Compliment Slims', were siezed following a search of a Romanian registered bus that disembarked a ferry from Holyhead at Dublin Port.
