Alcohol Still Uncovered In Co Cavan

A partially assembled alcohol still has been uncovered in Belturbet, Co Cavan in a joint operation between Revenue officers and Gardaí.

During the intelligence-led operation, officers seized almost 300,000 assorted cigarettes, 4.4kg of tobacco, 191 litres of wine, 68 litres counterfeit alcohol, and the partially assembled still.

The seized contraband had a retail value in excess of €160,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €127,000.

Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
