Mandate Seek Urgent Meeting With Debenhams
Mandate Trade Union has called for an urgent meeting with Debenhams following the retailers announcement that it was to enter examinership.
The union has written to the company and the Examiner seeking an urgent meeting to discuss the future of the company.
Mandate represents 2,000 workers in the 11 Debenhams stores and also in the concessions and cosmetic stands in their outlets.
The Union said that its members are "shocked and disappointed" at the announcement.
Gerry Light, Mandate Assistant General Secretary said: "Obviously our members are upset and worried for their future and they need some clarification on what is happening in the business.
"We have written to the company and the Examiner seeking meetings. Clearly we intend to do everything in our power to protect job numbers and the terms and conditions of employment of our members."
