Witnesses Sought To Fatal Road Collision In Cork

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision on the Cork to Ballincollig Road on Tuesday, 17 May.

A man, aged in his 20s, was killed when two cars collided on the R618 at about 8:30pm yesterday.

Another man, understood to be the driver of one of the cars, is in a critical condition in Cork University Hospital (CUH).

Four other men, said to be travelling in one car, and two women, from the second vehicle, are also being treated at CUH for non-life threatening injuries.

It is understood that a forensic examination of the scene will continue this morning, with the road not expected to re-open until later today, 18 May.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact garda.

Four Killed On Irish Roads This Weekend
A number of separate road crashes this weekend have claimed four lives, including a father and son. John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. The collision occurred at the junction of Slab Road, Burt, on the Main Letterkenny to Derry Road at approximately 10.

Appeal For Witnesses Following Fatal Road Accident
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses following a fatal road traffic accident in County Waterford on Wednesday, 09 September. A man in his 50s was seriously injured when his motorcycle hit a wall on the R448, near Waterford City, at about 17:15. He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford where he was pronounced dead.

Four Men Dead In Separate Collisions
A total of four men have died in a spate of separate car collisions over the weekend. In the most recent incident, a motorcyclist collided with a pick-up truck towing a trailer, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, a man in his late 20s. The collision which occurred at Cloghnadromin, Ballysimon, CoLimerick at approx 1.30pm on Sunday.
