Two People Arrested Over Organised Crime In Cork

Gardaí have arrested two people as part of an investigation into organised crime and serious assaults in Cork city.

A man, aged 21, and a woman, aged 20, were arrested this morning, 03 June in the Blarney area.

Both suspects are being held in Togher and Bridewell Garda Stations under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.

Customs Seize 120,000 Illegal Cigarettes
Cigarettes with an estimated retail value of €57,000 have been seized by customs officers at Cork Airport. Some 120,000 Marlboro cigarettes were discovered in 12 suitcases that had arrived on a flight from Wroclaw, Poland. Garda arrested two men, understood to be Polish nationals, in connection with the find.

Men Arrested Over €1m Cocaine And Heroin Find
Heroin and cocaine, with an estimated street value of €1m, has been recovered in a house search in Ballyfermot on Tuesday. Gardaí arrested two men, aged in their 30s, at the scene after officers uncovered 13kgs of cocaine worth an estimated €900,000 and 1.5kgs of heroin, with an estimated value of €225,000.

Man Arrested Over The Murder Of Mikolaj Wilk
A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Mikolaj Wilk in County Cork last June. The suspect, aged in his 30s, has been detained at Togher Garda Station. 35-year-old Mr Wilk, who was originally from Poland, died when he was attacked by a gang at his home in Ballingcollig.

Two Arrested In Operation Thor In Cork
A man aged in his 30s is due to appear before Cork District Court following his arrest by garda from Operation Thor on Friday, 22 April. Gardaí said that a woman, also aged in her 30s and arrested in the same operation, has been released without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
