Minister Flanagan Welcomes Panel To Examine Paramilitarism
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charlie Flanagan, has welcomed the news that a new panel is to be established in Northern Ireland to examine paramilitarism.
"This is a very valuable contribution to our understanding of the complex issues which must be addressed if Northern Ireland is to move beyond paramilitarism," Minister Flanagan said.
"The report makes recommendations to the Northern Ireland Executive and to the two Governments, which I look forward to discussing with the Executive Ministers and with the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Theresa Villiers.
"This report follows on from the Fresh Start Agreement and will inform the development of an Executive Strategy aimed at putting an end to the scourge of paramilitarism. The Executive has my support in that task."
