Man Due In Court Over Weapon And Ammunition Seizure In Dublin

A man is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice charged in connection with the seizure of a firearm and ammunition in Dublin on Saturday.

Officers from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (DOCB), assisted by National Units, uncovered a firearm and ammunition during the search of a vehicle on the Naas dual carriageway shortly before 3pm on Saturday 18 June. The male driver of the car was arrested at the scene.

A short time later, a second car was stopped on the Long Mile Road, Dublin 12 and its driver, another man aged in his 30s, was also arrested.

Both where detained under the provisions of section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

The second man was later released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardaí are appealing for help in tracing missing Dublin man Greg Ward. Mr Ward, 31, was last seen in Blanchardstown on Sunday 3 May. He is described as being 6'2" in height and has a vast amount of tattoos and piercings over his body. Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Man Dies In Stabbing Incident
A 30-year-old has died and a second man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, shortly after 7am this morning. It is believed there had been an argument in a house in the area and a Polish man was killed. The other man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Man Shot In Dublin Last Week Dies In Hospital
A 32-year-old man shot near a creche in Dublin last week has died in Beaumont Hospital , garda have said. Mr Declan Smith was shot on Holywell Avenue in Donaghmede last Friday. According to garda Mr Smith was shot by a lone gunman shortly after dropping children off at a creche. A post-mortem examination is to be conducted later today.

Missing Dublin Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A Dublin man missing since Sunday morning has been found "safe and well". 27-year-old Glen Fitzpatrick was reported missing from his home in Inchicore, Dublin 8. Gardaí had issued an appeal for information on Monday and have thanked the public for their help. No details of where Mr Fitzpatrick was during the time he was missing have been released.

Man Released Following Dublin Shooting
A man has been released without charge after being questioned in connection with the shooting of a boy in Dublin on Friday. The six-year-old was shot in the neck in Ballyfermot. A man was detained on suspicion of withholding information. A file is being prepared for the DPP.
