Appeal Issued Over Suspicious Fire At Cork City Restaurant

Gardaí in Cork have appealed for information following a fire at a restaurant in Cork City on Wednesday 08 June.

At approximately 5.30am, Gardaí and Fire Services attended the scene of a fire at N Square Steakhouse & Seafood Restaurant on Camden Quay.

Six teams from Cork City Fire Brigade tackled the fire which had engulfed the restaurant.

Approximately 100 people were evacuated safely from overhead and neighbouring apartments. The fire was brought under control. No-one was injured during the incident.

Results of a detailed forensic and technical examination have been furnished to investigating Gardaí confirming the fire started in suspicious circumstances.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the area of Camden Street or Pine Street during the early hours of Wednesday 08 June to contact them. They are particularly appealing for footage or images recorded at the scene on mobile phones or other devices.

Mountjoy Prison Cell Fire
A fire broke out in a cell at Dublin's Mountjoy Prison on Thursday night, according to reports. It is understood that a prisoner had set fire to a cell. However, it is believed that prison staff and fire crews were able to contain the fire quickly. No-one was injured in the incident.

Woman Charged Over Suspicious House Fire
A woman has been charged in relation to a suspicious house fire in Co Louth last year. Following an investigation into the blaze, which occurred at Cork Street in Drogheda on 16 August last year, gardaí confirmed a 27-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the incident. A woman, aged 73, was seriously injured in the fire in 2014.
