A grant of almost €700,000 has been secured for Coiste Ionad Cuimhneacháin na nImirceach to fund the construction of a new community centre in Carna.
Announcing the funding, Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs, Seán Kyne, said that he was "very pleased" to be in a position to help this Committee to build a centre which will serve as both a community and tourist facility.
He said: "I believe that the centre will greatly add to Iorras Aintheach and will become a hub for experiencing the culture of the area while highlighting the outstanding natural beauty of Iorras Aintheach.
"It is also important that Ionad Cuimhneacháin na nImirceach will be an attraction along the Wild Atlantic Way, where tourists can experience our native language and the traditional music, song, dance, folklore and storytelling that is plentiful in Iorras Aintheach."
