Witness Appeal Following Fatal Drowning At Grand Canal
Gardaí in Dublin have appealed for witnesses following a fatal drowning incident at Grand Canal, Portobello, Dublin, in the early hours of Saturday, 18 June 2016.
It is understood a man got into difficulty while swimming in the Grand Canal at approximately 4.25am.
Garda have described the man as aged in his early twenties, 5' 8'' in height, black hair and wearing a black and blue shirt.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone who was in the Portobello area between 4am and 4:45am on 18 June, to contact them at Terenure Garda Station on 01 666 4000, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Man Arrested In Connection With Body In River
A man has been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of Yvonne O'Shea last November. Gardaí said they arrested the 41-year-old man this morning at Ballymauns, Vicarstown, Co Laois. He was arrested at 7.20am and is currently being detained under the Criminal Justice Act at Portlaoise Garda Station.

Fans flocked to Dublin's Grand Canal Theatre in a first night crowd last night. Following a successful run in Belfast's Grand Opera House, Dancing Shoes: The George Best Story opened last night in the Dublin theatre. Nearly 40,000 people saw the show over its two runs at the Belfast Grand Opera House.

A woman has been stabbed in Dublin City Centre. The incident happened near a hostel close to Store Street according to Gardaí. DART services have been suspended between Grand Canal Dock and Connolly as Garda investigate the incident.

Drugs Find Made During Murder Investigation
Ecstasy worth an estimated €50,000 has been uncovered in Ardclough, Kildare. It is understood that officers investigating the murder of Kenneth O'Brien – the man who's body was found dismembered and inside a suitcase in the Grand Canal – made the discovery. However, Garda added that the drugs are not connected to Mr O'Brien's death.

New Facebook HQ Opens In Dublin
Facebook's new EMEA headquarters has been officially opened at Grand Canal Square in Dublin. Taoiseach Enda Kenny attended the ceremony and was joined by Sonia Flynn, Managing Director of Facebook Ireland. The HQ building covers around 120,000 sq ft and is situated in the capital's 'Silicon Docks' area.
