Two Men Arrested In Connection With 2006 Murder Of Denis Donaldson

Gardaí investigating the death of Denis Donaldson in 2006 have arrested two men in Co Donegal.

Mr Donaldson, a senior Sinn Féin official, had been exposed as an agent for M15 in 2005.

He was shot dead at an isolated cottage near Glenties, Co Donegal where he'd been living since his exposure.

In 2008 the Real IRA claimed responsibility for Mr Donaldson's murder, however, garda have said that circumstances surrounding the case remained "unclear".

Gardaí arrested two men, aged in their 40s and 70s, in connection with their investigation on Tuesday night.

In light of the arrest garda renewed their appeal for anyone who may have information in relation to this investigation to contact them at the Incident Room at Letterkenny Garda Station at 074 9167100, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666111 or any garda station.

Denis Donaldson Murder: Man Arrested
Gardaí have arrested a man, aged in his 40s, in connection with the murder of Denis Donaldson. Mr Donaldson, who was a senior Sinn Féin official, was shot at his cottage near Glenties in Co Donegal in April 2006. He was previously exposed as an MI5 agent. The suspect has been detained at Letterkenny Garda Station.

Two Arrested Following Supermarket Raid
Two men have been arrested following a raid at a supermarket in the Clarehall area in Dublin last night. At around 10.30pm, two men armed with a knife entered the premises on the Malahide Road and threatened two members of staff, before tying them up and attacking them. The pair then left the scene with a sum of cash.

Three More Questioned Over Quinn Murder
Three men are being questioned by the PSNI about the brutal gang-murder of Co Armagh man Paul Quinn after three others were arrested by gardaí earlier. The three men arrested by the PSNI are from the Crossmaglen and Cullyhanna areas and while two are aged in their 50s, one is in his 20s.

Men Arrested Over Co Donegal Arson Attacks
Gardaí have arrested two men in connection with two arson attacks in Convoy, Co Donegal. The men, understood to be aged in their 30s, have been arrested in connection with a fire at an Orange Hall and a Presbyterian Church. Both buildings were attacked last Friday.

Bomb Factory Discovered In Donegal
Three men have been arrested following the discovery of bomb making equipment in Donegal. Garda located several devices and bomb making materials in a wooded area of Rahpoe and arrested three men from Strabane in Co Tyrone. Two are being held in Letterkenny garda station, and one in Milford garda station.
