100 New Jobs For Cork With ByrneLooby Expansion

Up to 100 new jobs are to be created in Cork following the acquisition of Cronin Miller Consultation by ByrneLooby.

Irish-owned ByrneLooby provides infrastructure design for large scale engineering projects both in Ireland and overseas.

The firm has designed some of Ireland's most recent and premier quality facilities such as the new Baltimore Harbour in West Cork and the new commercial and fishery developments at Kinsale Habour.

Welcoming the announcement, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Mary Mitchell O'Connor said: "I am delighted that ByrneLooby is expanding their operation and creating 100 new jobs in Ireland. It is great to see an Irish company develop and expand its operations creating highly skilled jobs.

"It is an exciting time for the company as this announcement will strengthen their marine capability enabling the company to service the growing Irish and international markets in marine developments and continue their growth. I wish Michael, Adam and the team every success for their future".

ByrneLooby currently employs over 150 staff internationally, including highly skilled designers and project managers. The acquisition is part of the ByrneLooby group's 2020 strategy which focuses on strengthening their specialist capabilities and increasing their headcount to 250 by 2020. This will see an additional 100 people join the group over this period. New job creation will come from both business support and engineering disciplines.

Topaz To Create 100 New Jobs
Service station operator Topaz are to create 100 new jobs with the construction of two new motorway service stations. An investment of €8m is funding the building of two new services at Junction 3 on the Dublin-Cork motorway (M8) near Ballacolla in Co Laois, and Junction 5 on the Dublin-Waterford motorway (M9) in Co Carlow.
