Man Killed In Co Limerick Road Crash

A man in his 20s has died following in a road traffic collision in Co Limerick.

The crash occurred shortly after 2am on the R511, Fedamore - Limerick Road at Carnane on Tuesday, 04 October.

The victim was killed when the car he was travelling in as a passenger left the road and struck a ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to University Hospital Limerick and a post mortem is to be arranged.

The driver of the car, a woman aged in her early 20's, received minor injuries and was taken to University Hospital Limerick. No other injuries were reported.

The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information, particularly those who travelled the R511 close to Fedamore between 1am and 2.20am this morning, to contact Roxboro Road Garda station on 061 214340, The Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.

Ninth Arrest Over Limerick Murder
Another arrest has been made in connection with the murder of Jeffery Hannon. Gardai at Roxboro Road Garda station investigating the murder of, father of two, Jeffrey Hannon last night arrested a male in his late teens in the midlands area. He is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice at Roxboro Road Garda Station.

Limerick Tunnel Opens
Taoiseach Brian Cowen will open the long awaited Limerick Tunnel today at 1pm. The route now cuts under the River Shannon and links Coonagh on the northern bank with Bunlicky on the southern bank. There are two toll plazas located on the north side of the river and it will cost €1.

Man Arrested In Connection With Dublin Shooting Incident
Gardaí investigating a shooting incident outside a west Dublin school have made an arrest. A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested during the course of the search operation in Corduff. He has been detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939, where he can be held for up to 72 hours.

Man Arrested Over Gun And Ammunition Seizure
A 24-year-old man has been arrested in an operation targeting organised criminal gangs in the Crumlin area of Dublin. Gardaí from Sundrive Road Garda Station arrested the man on Tuesday, 12 July, shortly after 9pm when they stopped and searched a car and its occupant close to Old County Road and discovered a firearm and ammunition.

Man Dies In Limerick Collision
A man has died in a crash in Co Limerick. The car veered off the road and hit a ditch at Dromsallagh at around 4.15am on Sunday, 05 June. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man is currently being treated for his injuries at the University Hospital Limerick. The road has been re-opened.
