Murder Investigation Launched After Body Found In Waterford

A murder investigation is underway following the discovery of a body at a flat in Waterford.

The body of 48-year-old Abdi Rasheed Kaaheen Shire was found at around 9.20am at the Wellington Street property on Wednesday, 31 May.

The deceased is a Somali National and had lived in the Waterford City area.

A post mortem examination has been completed and for operational reasons Gardaí are not releasing details. However, officers have now upgraded their investigation from a suspicious death to a murder enquiry.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for information, in particular they are appealing to members of the local and extended Somali community who may be in a position to assist with this investigation  to contact the Gardaí at Waterford on 051- 305300, the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Consultants claimed dead bodies had been left on trolleys at the University Hospital Waterford, causing body fluids to leak on the floor.

Investigation Launched After Body Found In Carlow
The body of a woman has been found in a house in Carlow. Gardaí say that the body of a 37-year-old woman was discovered at a house in the Craigcullen area of Carlow at about 21:45 on Sunday. The body remains at the scene to allow for a forensic examination. The identity of the woman has not yet been released.

Four Girls In Hospital After Aerosol Explosion
Garda are investigating the circumstances surrounding four girls ending up in hospital after an aerosol exploded in a house in Drogheda on Sunday. The girls are being treated in hospital, two in Crumlin's children's hospital and two in Tallaght, following the incident. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
