GSOC Launches Investigation Into Dublin Shooting
The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) are appealing for witnesses to a shooting incident in Dublin.
An investigation has been launched after a firearm was discharged and a man was injured in the Portobello area near the Portobello Road/Bloomfield Avenue junction at around 2am this morning, 23 August.
It is understood the incident involved an off-duty garda and three other people.
The injured man is currently receiving medical attention and his injury is described as non-life-threatening.
The GSOC said: "The incident was referred to GSOC under section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act, 2005, which provides for independent investigation of "any matter that appears to indicate that the conduct of a member of the Garda Síochána may have resulted in the death of, or serious harm to, a person".
"GSOC is requesting anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have information that may be of assistance to the investigation, to contact us on 1890 600 800."

Garda Síochána Website Targeted By Hackers
An attempt to hack into the Garda Síochána computer system is being investigated. According to RTÉ, the incident forced a number of internal systems to shut down last week. It is not known who was behind the attack.

According to reports, at about 15:30 on Henry Street in the city centre, there was an altercation between an officer and a homeless man. During the incident, it is claimed that the man took the garda's can of pepper spray.

Fianna Fáil Call On Govt To Publish Cooke Report
The government has been urged to publish the Cooke Report on the alleged bugging of the offices of the Garda Ombudsman. Calling for the immediate publication of the report, Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Justice Niall Collins said: "We now know that the Taoiseach has received the report into the GSOC bugging controversy.
