No Restrictions For Irish Vessels At Spanish Ports - Creed
No restrictions will be applied to Irish vessels landing albacore tuna into Spanish ports, Agriculture Minister Michael Creed has confirmed.
The Minister said in recent days he became aware of reports Irish vessels were being prohibited from landing their tuna catch into some Spanish ports.
"Such action is unacceptable to me and contrary to the Common Fisheries Policy and EU law," he said.
"We contacted the Spanish authorities and I was pleased to receive their prompt assurances that no such restrictions will be applicable to Irish fishing vessels."
